I read half of the oroginal conan stories and other works by Robert E Howard.
He was a pretty good writer, too bad he became An Hero.
One thing I noticed about original Conan vs modern interpretations is that the original Conan was quite crafty at times, not some big dumb brute.
Another thing i noticed is morality.
Nowadays, conan is a goody 2 shoes.
In the original stories, he was just as likely to save a town from marauders as he was to be the corsair sacking the town.

I'm aware of what An Hero is due to the context but where did it originate?

A 13 year old named Mitchel Henderson killed himself on April 20th, 2006.
On his online myspace account, a friend of his wrote a tone deaf poem calling him a brave hero for killing himself.
But the friend did a typo and called henderson "An hero" instead of "A hero".
In todays internet, it would have gone unnoticed due to bots on plebbit being even dumber than that on a daily basis.
But back then it became a huge meme because of Fartchan and Edramatica.
