There may not be a next one. He was the eighth but considered part of the seven head of states of the Vatican government. Unlike the seven before him, he was not a valid priest and wasn’t fit for head of state but was installed anyways.

> And the beast which was, and is not: **the same also is the eighth, and is of the seven,** and goeth into destruction. (Revelations 17:11

We shall see what stupidity the new world religion brings before us. The last valid pope was Pope Pius XII but the Catholic Church and the Vatican City state are two different entities with the Church being reduced to a remnant after the Vatican II/Novus Ordo.
