This was six years ago. The incredible update is that he is miraculously doing well, having recovered from a skull fracture, a dozen surgeries, frontal lobe damage, and breaking both arms and a leg. Attacker's motive was "angry at being rejected by women" and "just looking for someone to kill". He is serving a 19-year sentence for attempted murder.

Frontal lobe damage is bad news and life changing. It may not be obvious currently but it will be later on.
