Never realized it was the same name, just transliterated differently in English, but they did so differently either to make it easier to remember who's who, or translators didn't want the betrayer of Jesus to be associated with Judah of the OT out of respect.

But in doing this, we almost miss a key element of foreshadowing.

Judas' name was Judah.

God incarnates into a wicked people and allows them to betray Him just as reality itself (God's story we are all in) had prophesied in the stories they were writing down about their own history. They were warned exactly of what they would do and the pharisee's and scribes who were supposed to be experts couldn't see it as they were legalists (think talmud) and couldn't figure out typology and symbology that was prophesying their own doom.

Notice that (((they))) never ever claim Joseph as their ancestor.

Joseph went literally into the hole (hell / hades) and rose again as king of the world (second only to pharaoh.) He did it without any guile or unrighteous action towards his masters or jailers.

Judah, on the other hand, can only claim any sort of righteousness because he was willing to lay his life down for his brother Benjamin. And later, the tribe of Judah serves Joseph even when the other tribes turn against Joseph.

Joseph, NOT JUDAH, is the heir of Israel. The other tribes have NO blessing. Read the Genesis account carefully, and you will see that there are prophesies about them, but Joseph received the FULL blessing that Abraham received -- and then some.

The prophecy of Jacob that says Judah will have the kingship forever was fulfilled by Christ (who was the heir to king David, because the line of Herod was illegitimate and mixed with the edomite race); of course the fake jews altered the prophecy in the (((masoretic text))) to remove the reference to Him being the prophesied eternal king so they could justify their ambitions of world domination.

>Never realized it was the same name, just transliterated differently in English,

Theres an even bigger example of this that the DRB actually explains pretty well, namely Jesus Himself. The Name "Jesus" is actually the exact same as "Joshua" in Hebrew, and it was widely believed by the Church Fathers that Moses' protégé pre-figured Christ in many ways, not just by sharing the same name. Joshua brought the Israelite Nations into the Holy Land in the same manner that Christ opened the way to Heaven for His followers.

No they’re different
Judah was the Jews of the original and Judas was the one who betrayed Jesus.
Israel and his son was the Hebrew who was the true king of the Israelis not Judah. In the end Judah and his people practiced degeneracy and cannibalism and many of them died out, Joseph’s son Joshua soon led Israel and executed the cannibals (Jews). However Jewish revisionism changed that and took the name of Israelis. So the actual rightful owners of you want to get into semantics would be us, Joshua was fair skinned blonde and blue eyed.

TLDR We were the true Israelis and such

It's probably written that way because Judea, like the rest of the eastern half of Rome, was heavily hellenized and much of the NT was originally written in Greek.

Its interesting that Judah sold Joseph for 10 shekels less than Judas betrayed Christ for.
