The original promise of Israel was they would be given land running from the Euphrates River to a river in Egypt (maybe the Denali). Instead, because Israel disobeyed God by letting some of the women and children live, God punished them, God knew they would bring in their false idols and that Israel would one day start worshiping these false gods.
But God states through Ezekiel in chapter 37 that he would place the whole house of Israel back into the land, meaning all 12 tribes will be represented.
