His son Edsel Ford was in control of the company during most of ww2. He resumed control after his son died in 1943, but he was an ancient and frail geriatric and almost every decision was made by someone else. He objected to the company manufacturing planes.

And ford Europe supported the German War effort wholeheartedly even under the leadership of Edsel Ford. And edsel approved of this. The US government forced these companies to supply the war effort at home.
