Not the best example you could have used. There are distinct racial groups in that show, the main thrust of it being composed of pseudo-Germans. Then there are the pseudo-Arabs, and pseudo-Chinese, like this guy.

But yeah, other shows are much more lazy with the artstyle, with the only clue of a character's ethnicity being the clothes they wear.
