Because they built infrastructure and helped modernize Taiwan and cracked down hard on crime. There was even a saying in Taiwan that " the Japanese were greedy and competent but the KMT were greedy and incompetent"

So yeah Asia would probably be better off under Japanese rule if people had been honest with themselves.

Also because unlike the German occupiers, a lot of the Allied "liberators" were rapist niggers.
