I've never been on a date either so I can't help much, but don't worry too much about style. Just don't dress like a child, don't dress like a nigger, don't dress like a fag and don't be a walking billboard. Stick to pants without elastic, whatever shoes shoes you have that are in the best condition, and unless you're particularly muscular wear a long sleeve button up shirt or jacket with a collar, ideally something with a bit of patterning rather than a single flat color unless you're so good looking that you want all attention drawn to your face immediately.
