I don’t have cable tv so it’s almost a surreal experience to watch commercials. Tonight we are watching Shark Tank and in the commercials literally half of the people are black. Not exaggerating. Whenever there is a white person, they are in a service roll for the black person (replacing the black person’s windshield or taking the black persons food order) They show unbroken black families in nice homes or wealthy black people in executive business positions. Why?

For all the social reasons, but also for economic ones. I saw stats on the consumerist behavior or black vs white and it’s an insane disparity. White people are not affected by advertising. Whereas blacks spending is deeply influenced by advertising—and also, they spend a ton more on unnecessary consumerist goods.
