The absolute truth of Canadian-American relations from the beginning:
In the Revolutionary War, we sent an expedition up to Canada to try and enlist them in the revolution and free them from the crown. Remember, they were just as subjected to the taxes and whatnot as we were. The French-Canadians wanted nothing to do with us and repelled our invasion.
In the War of 1812, again we sent expeditions up to Canada. Those expeditions failed. After the war, we drew up an agreement on our borders between the UK and the USA.
There was almost a war over a pig in the San Juan islands in Washington State in the 1800s. In the end, UK and USA again revisited the borders and did what they could to leave each other in peace.
Up to WWII Canada pretty much behaved as the good subjects they were to the British crown. Since we allied with the UK, we were ostensibly allied to Canada. That's the extend of our friendship.
Up until lately, Canada had little to offer us and basically lived off of our culture and such. Then, Canada and the US and Mexico entered into NAFTA, which ostensibly was to make the entire North American continent a free trade zone. After a while, Canada decided to impose huge tariffs on American exports, and America did nothing in retaliation.
Canada is a lost cause. Their government is practically inviting China in. Criminal gangs run the country otherwise. Their access to the Arctic Circle is a huge deal to us, because we share the Arctic Circle with Russia, and we can't really do much with it because Canada is stupid and incompetent.
It is said that one of the good reasons to invade and conquer a country is if they can't keep control of their side of the border to such a degree that it becomes a problem to their neighbors. Canada is in that state. We can't share an open border with them. We can't trade with them freely. They are practically communist now. There is nothing we want from them but we can't separate peacefully because we share a border.
The only peaceful resolution is for the UK to either take control of Canada (they can't) or for the US to move their troops in and take control of it. Otherwise, we'll be forever fighting a war on our border with them.

SCTV and Barenaked Ladies before the album with One Week. You can't do that on television and the original run of trailer park boys. Kevin spencer is ok. That's about it.
