The flood was local. It's talked about starting at part 11 https://christogenea.org/podcasts/biblical/genesis

Those podcasts/papers are very long, but you can search the keywords there if you want a good explanation.

Probably for the same reason there’s different “humans” referenced in Genesis 1 outside of Adam and Eve.

The mistake we make now is assuming “sons of Abraham” or “sons of Adam” = anatomical humans.
