There are a number of poisons in that movie. The war against humanity, the societal and cultural decay, has been an ongoing process for hundreds of years.

Almost every movie since I can remember is full of some form, if not every form of degeneracy. There were still some DITRs back in the 80s, but after that, it really started getting blatantly bad.
