Idk what this infatuation with gold is about doomsdayers. When there's not enough food to go around nobody is going to trade needed provisions for a rock lmao.
Gold is only worth what people will pay for it. Humanity has gone through enough famines and droughts for us to know what the value of gold will end up being.
I agree that it will be beneficial in certain scenarios.. but I also think that if the supply lines actually falter then those scenarios will quickly evolve into complete shtf.
