Dumb. This is actually an argument for Satanism; if God mistreats people then why should we follow his Laws?
God doesn't have authority over us because He created the universe, anymore than an abusive parent has authority over their child. God has authority because he is Good. He can't do "whatever he wants", He can only do Good by definition. That's why we place our faith in Him.
