The problem with sportsball is that there's this expectation as a society that we're supposed to care about it to fit in. "Aren't you a [local sportsball team] fan like the rest of us?" But the "home" of a team is meaningless. They play their "home" games there. That's about it. So why the fuck should I care? Everyone acts like when "their" team wins, that somehow reflects positively on them and the city. It's a mind boggling fantasy but you get weird reactions if you don't buy into it. If you ask someone why they like [local sportsball team] over any other team, it causes an NPC short circuit. "Well they're OUR team!" No, they're fucking not. Nothing bad happens if they lose. Nothing good happens if they win. You're not one of the players. You don't personally know any of the player. WHY. DO. YOU. CARE.

You might not like it and it may be completely retarded, but we don't live in a perfect world. Sportslop has been a major central focus of western culture going back to Ancient Greece and thats not about to change anytime soon.

I was like that until I got into my 20s and realized yeah why DO I care if these complete strangers are successful? I still pay attention to the stats though because I usually make much-needed money off fantasy football. Can't be bothered to watch the games though.
