# This Weeks Discussion Theme: [Consoom Programming] (https://arete.network/polls/565eae5e-d858-465b-b5ba-983505814af1/)
In this weekly we consooooom programming! This isn’t the typical “l3ARN to code” meme. This is an art of programming thread. You don’t like the state of video games, policies on websites, or the way apps work? Make your own! Do not worry about making something look, work, feel ‘perfect’ and corporate. Design is both an art and science. Use open-source software and libraries and make the digital world your oyster. It’s what all the technocrats have done, and they fear you realizing that you can make them obsolete as they did to many before them. Programming isn’t the kind of skill you merely learn all there is to know in a few months or years compared to many trades. When it comes to programming all you have is a set of core fundamentals and a mindset for improving through continuous learning. Hold allegiance to no single operating system, programming language, or technologies instead view them as tools to use in your toolbox. Embrace the terminal as Terry A. Davis said, “the terminal is for the white man”.
Discussion ideas:
* What is your opinion of the programming vs coding debate? What is the difference, does it matter?
* What video games, websites, or apps do you think should exist? What is stopping you from making it?
* Why do so many view programmers as these cringe Silicon Valley SJW types? Do you know any programmers/coders like that? Do you know any that you would consider ‘normal’ or ‘based’?
* Share your thoughts on programming? Or share projects or games you like or know someone is working on.
