I got a degree from a major university and have considered myself an educated fellow, although not brilliant and not a scholar. It's depressing to think almost everything was a lie.
If you got a degree from a major university and didn't realize that everything you think you know is probably wrong... you were never educated.
Thing #1 they taught me in my physics major was: "Look how wrong we were about everything. I can't wait to see how wrong we are about everything we think we know today too!"
The fundamental theorem of calculus is pretty obvious and intuitive. The relationship between the derivative and integral is almost self-evident once they are properly understood. IE, watching only the spedometer and a stopwatch, can you calculate how far your have traveled in a car?

That said, the proofs are rather simple.
