Taking a solo vacation to the other side of the planet sounds depressing, even if it was safe. I would want to go with friends or family and share the experience.
This is why group trips exist. Travel alone, but together with 50 or so White Christian strangers. You basically share a chartered flight, live in the same hotel and take the same bus there. Then there's guided tours and other activities to do in the area.
Always possible to interact with the locals as much as you want, but if it's in a shithole country and some goatfucker tries something, you''ll have your own countrymen backing you up always.
