They make terrible slaves, constant kvetching, typical puny human strength, too arrogant to follow orders.

Plus, slavery requires housing slaves, feeding slaves, basically coddling them, and that is very expensive.

And if they get freedom, they will kvetch about oppression for centuries, demanding reparations and such.
