I get the hate on gaming if, like anything else, you let it own you, but hooking up with frens and shooting the shit for a few hours every week use to be considered a good thing. I’m not sure how old you are, but gaming use to be based as fuck, and a bastion of TND/TKD for young white males where anything went. Shit, I can remember doing my fair share of “radicalizing” in the socom series on PS2, and made some lifelong frens all across the country. Also, before that split screening at your buddy’s house was a blast. So many great split screen games back before 2001 or so. Those were some good as fucking times before gaming was all about leveling up some bullshit and RNG pay to play faggotry. This is all coming from someone who hasn’t touched a game in almost 10 years now.

The guy was comparing playing video games with reading literature, listening to music, or appreciating art in a museum like they're the same thing. There's simply no defending video games as a form of art, or wasting countless hours pretending to do or be something on the screen. It's childish as fuck.

You're account of making decent friends from online gaming developed after my time playing video games I think. When I played them it was always at a friend's house. We took turns playing. We played to kill time before we could go out and meet other friends. Gaming wasn't the core of my friendships.

I get that that has changed. I haven't thought about why that is, not much. Not really my problem anymore.

What I do see is an uptick in posts here about video games with DEI, SJW, gay jew niggers from outerspace content. My opinion is that that shit either needs to stay in KIA2 or not at all in this board, unless it's being buried in comments bullying people who post here and STILL play video games. Which I will continue to do.

I never considered myself a gamer. The hours of dedication it requires seemed like a waste of time, nothing really gained or improved because of it. I do however consider myself a lot wiser because of this board and I hope it continues to help people grow.

I think we agree more than we disagree fren, and I’m an 80s 90s kid. I’m either late genX ear,y millennial depending on who you ask. I was lucky enough to grow up before online gaming was much of a thing, and way before reporting people for speech and hurt feelings was a thing. Gaming for us was mostly an evening, and/or weekend thing after the street lights went out. I didn’t grow up in the best area, and it was safer to be inside after dark especially towards the early mid 90s. I do agree though, for me and my friends gaming wasn’t THE THING like it is for so many young kids, and even adults that it is now. It’s like the only thing they do with their free time, and that’s some fuked up shit that I totally disagree with.
