Feminism proceeded in stages. Traditionally, women didn't even talk about politics, vote, or work, and these are the first three stages that even us over here have accepted as 'normal' now. It is just the modern radical activism that we appear to be against, and yes they don't have lots of that, but Japanese culture was largely cemented when they lost WWII, and our jews (I'm in the US as you recall) literally wrote a constitution for them, and 'allowed' them to keep their emperor so long as he had no power. Their entire culture shifted at that time too, as up until then, women didn't work, talk politics, or vote then either.
Actually, women weren't allowed to even eat at the same table as men, but that is more of a rural thing.
BTW, the 'talk about politics' stage is original research - I call it the 'zeroth wave' as it occurred around the time of the civil war, and was started by Chicago's freemasons. Fun fact.
