The problem with the anti-DEI sentiment that's emerged in the last 2 months is that it completely ignores the ideological reasons DEI was established in the first place, namely to discriminate against White people. Currently, DEI is unpopular for purely pragmatic reasons. People don't want planes falling out of the sky because some pilot or ATC was promoted to fulfill diversity quotas. No one cared that White people (particularly White men) were being systematically and legally discriminated against until they figured out it might affect *them*.

Now, they want to go back to a pre-DEI "colorblind" hiring system without ever acknowledging that the only group that DEI ever acted against was White people. We all know who DEI favored but there is one demographic that is conspicuous by its absence.

Now that enough normies question DEI, they stop attacking Whites and retreat to "neutral" ground where they can pontificate about "I don't care what color they are as long as they are qualified" without ever acknowledging that DEI was explicitly anti-White.

The difficulty in all this is separating the parts which don't fit. There is overarching the narrative, a power struggle at the highest levels and the parts which don't fit are the ripples of contention among the invisible elites.
