Its bad there too but at least Hinako Shijo is not supposed to be taken seriously (notice that she's made to look beautiful and not fat and is more fanservice material?) whereas Assassin's creed shadows wants us to take female sumo wrestlers seriously and made her fat and ugly and claimed that its "historically accurate"

And these organizations are clearly based on medieval crusades era real life shadowy organizations (chiefly the knights Templar and the freemasons). The freemasons are well known for being shadowy and strange. The knights Templar was... odd, too. Not beginning as such but definitely growing into that. At an earlier time than the freemasons. If they weren't eradicated by France they might occupy a similar niche as freemasons or jesuits today.
The game breaks all boundaries of believability and immersion by basing these medieval european/middle eastern institutions in ancient Greece, ancient Egypt, and medieval Japan. What? This doesn't even make any fucking sense.

It uses major historical time periods and events, even people, as a backdrop for their fictional war between 2 factions more or less based on actual secret societies.
The templars are obviously based off the knight's templar, the assassins are based off some islamic cult of assassins from around the year 1000
They try to fuck around with the philosophies of both a bit but in general it boils down to

Eventually somewhere down the line they drop all sense of subtlety and make the assassins pure good in every way and the templars pure evil in every way. Typical 'murican ideology of lolbertarians fighting one dimensional authoritarian villains who just want power and to enslave mankind. I haven't been paying attention to the lore in a long time, from what i heard it just turned into total slop
The Templars (the "bad guys") are based on the knights Templar, which absolutely was a strange and possibly occult (debatable, but indeed shady nonetheless) organization by the time of its dissolution.
The assassins (the "good guys") are based loosely on the freemasons.
The early games essentially go out of their way to tell you that you're all weird cultish fucks. And theres good templar characters. I wouldn't be surprised if they made it black and white in the newer games. However, though, they did release a game where the assassins are effectively a true evil, and you play as a "bad guy". Assasins creed rogue. Make of that what you will, but the game itself is shit.
I haven't played it since I was a young teenager and unity first came out in 2014. It was a pile of shit from a gameplay perspective. I haven't played any since.
There were rumors circulating for years about what the templars were doing, king Phillip just trumped them up to the logical extreme to justify their execution. And, back then, rumors didn't come from nowhere. Who knows what this would have evolved into over time if true? The freemasons also started with noble intentions, essentially evolving from a guild to a fraternity to a secret society. Read George Washington's letters on the issue of freemasonry and the illuminati, theyre rather eye opening. The fact that freemasonry became so massive in Scotland, that the scottish rite is littered with Templar imagery, and that many within the Templar order who survived were exiled in Scotland is possibly damning, but at the same time I don't believe that freemasonry was actually an evil thing at this point in time.
The fact is that we will *never know* if they were actually Baphomet worshipping Satanists gathering round pentagrams in the forest, or if they were the most pious men in history, who could give the desert fathers a run for their money. It's just entirely unprovable either way, and I believe that there's truth somewhere in the middle.
On one hand, they did an amazing job protecting Christian pilgrims in the middle east. Their sacrifices there were not in vain at all. They were brave and valiant on the field, and they set a precedent for all further military orders (they were the first, after all).
On the other hand, they had a strange and exorbitant level of power and influence in Europe despite not being anywhere near the most *actually* powerful order (this honor would go to the teutonic order). They were crawling all over the royal courts of Europe and had their hands in the cookie jars of many nobles, popes, and kings. Which is something they arguably had no business in. They also wielded power without any oversight until pope clement and king Philip killed all of them, which is why we have no actual idea of what they did beyond that which is provable and seen. No oversight, everything was in-house, Jacques de Molay gave 2 different testimonies, every one of its leaders was killed. The survivors went into grim secrecy. Leaves little room for a factual case study on them. You can basically extrapolate whatever the hell you want out of what little there is to know.
