I struggled for years with the idea of abandoning my home state and moving to another state in the US.
What finally convinced me to do it is the fact that people from the great state I was going to move to had sacrificed life and limb for the people in our state.
I cannot comprehend fully the mindset of the immigrant from a foreign nation coming to another country. Even my ancestors left their homeland only after being chased out and their countrymen rejecting them altogether. Their intent in coming to the US wasn't to build a new life, but to secure for themselves liberties they could not secure in their former homeland. They showed up with little except a willingness to create something out of nothing. They showed gratitude to the citizens of the US who allowed them to come in, claim a patch of dirt and allowed them the freedom to build their own home.
The migrants today are doing none of those things. They want to live in the houses we built, eat the food we grew, and get jobs in the companies we built.
