I realize they are very different. I'm equating them from the concept of striking from long distance, where one party is out of reach of the other. He's seen her, and she's spotted him, or his rifle, to stretch the metaphor, and she sat there hoping there would be no bang.
I don't think drones are going anywhere. I think they'll get more and more automated so that we can fully dehumanize the action. It's easier to ignore the camera footage when there's no human directly responsibly for piloting it. It'll be seen just like any other airstrike, only more precise. Nobody feels bad about the camera footage from a guided missile.
People will just get used to man made horrors, and then get excited for next man made horrors.
