It may appear that certain things coming out of this new Trump presidency are good. It may be so. Maybe some of the stuff we think is bad is actually good, or maybe the good stuff is actually bad. Unfortunately it's impossible to tell at this time, just like it always is impossible to tell at any time.
I am here to warn you, as an old veteran of politics and world history, and as a student of history, of the same warning every old person gives a young person who has ever lived.
FIRST WARNING: The ONLY thing that matters is YOUR FAMILY. Treat your parents with the utmost of respect. Stay close to your siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles. If you can't manage that, nothing else really matters. If your family is insane, and you make the terrible decision to divorce yourself from them, know that it is like cutting off and arm or a leg, and it will harm you for the rest of your life. If it is at all possible, make amends and maintain strong bonds.
Furthermore, YOU need to decide right now, if you haven't already, to form your own family, start your own clan, or continue the clan if you live in a strong clan already. Find the best mate you can find. Stick to him or her as closely as possible. Divorce is never an option. Make as many kids as possible. Become as wealthy as possible but do not sacrifice the upbringing of your kids to do so. Invest in your children and your grandchildren. If you fail at this -- nothing else matters, because you have lost everything indeed!
SECOND WARNING: Do not get confused about good and evil, wealth and poverty. Owning property is the highest priority. You get a piece of land, you work that land and you make it your own. You defend that land with your life. This is the secret of wealth that everyone throughout history understood. Property is ridiculously valuable and you live in a country here in the US where you can actually buy it. So buy as much as you can and hold on to it for dear life.
LOANS ARE EVIL. Do not take loans for any reason. You might think you are being smart by hedging or whatever nonsense some suit from Wall Street is trying to sell you. Don't believe that stuff. Cash in your hand, property in your name. If you have to mortgage your property, you don't really own it. If you have to borrow money to pay off other loans, you are destitute indeed.
Work your ass off to get as much money as you can. Take that money and save every penny of it you can. Invest in yourself, your future. Eventually one day you'll find you make more money working for yourself than someone else, so you work your ass off working for yourself saving every penny you can. One day, hopefully before you run out of steam, you realize you make more money managing your assets than actually working. At that point you do that and you focus on making wise investments and decisions with your assets. Obviously, the wisest decision is to invest in your children and grandchildren.
THIRD WARNING: The people in power do not care about you and they never will. Get over it. A politician who says "I will fight for you!" is lying. Even if you know him to be a good man, he can't possibly do that. Why? The point of politics is to win. You win by getting more people on your side and crushing your enemies. The game of politics is thus getting more and more power and using that power to obtain even more power. Never once does it involve taking care of people who don't have power. Politicians will never use power except to obtain more power! Once you understand this, you understand what you must do: Obtain power for yourself. You get power by getting friends and allies. The more friends and allies you have, the stronger you are. Once you have achieved a certain amount of power, people will come to you asking to borrow your power. Don't be stupid with this! You can't give your power away freely. Ask for something in exchange.
With those three warnings in mind, say your prayers, read the Bible, and live the best life you can, aware of the situation you are in and surrounded by.
REMEMBER: The battle is never over. You have never lost. You have never truly won the final victory, either. Each day is a new battle. Rise up in the morning with the intent to conquer in Christ's name, and go to sleep thanking God for your victories and praying for another conquest tomorrow.
