With the decline of tv, cable, and the rise of internet news, this is coming true. Boomers had no interest in new technology as they were already set in their ways in their 30's and 40's as a group. They have not kept pace and refused to grasp the truth that the reality they knew was always false.
With that in mind, many Gen X, Gen Y went to college. Most of them will never "get it". To them, it's a distraction from sports or video games. I'm Gen Y. I remember a jew actually coming to my high school to show off his holocaust tattoo. It was a classmate's dad. The guy wasn't old enough to have been alive during WW2. A tremendous amount of propaganda has been thrown unto Americans.

As far as non-gov people go: I've found that Gen X bears as much (and perhaps more) responsibility for this shit state of affairs. I say this as a 40 year old: which makes me an old as fuck millennial and borderline Gen Xer.
A lot of the faggots in their mid 40s-mid 50s are guilty as shit for where we all have found ourselves. They bitch and moan and try to shift blame but ultimately they are a mix of the boomer mindset (((muh greatest all-lie))) and the ones that actually know the score but pathologically thing they need to get their piece of the pie.
Those last ones I mention deserve to be drowned in 5 inches of water.
