Garlic, Onion, Salt, Olive Oil, Mustard (i.e White people's pepper) Rosemary, Thyme existed in Europe for thousands of Years, and it still a core component in many dishes today in the mediterranean culture

They crawl around and eat decaying organic material at the bottom of swamps, river beds, river deltas, areas where organic run off goes into the water or areas where there are raw sewage leaks or manure running into the water.
They seem to have a lot of meat on them from muscle to swim through currents or against flowing water.
