Question about Hollywood propaganda of White alpha students bullying beta nerds in high school during 80's-90's

There were quite a lot of movies with White alpha students bullying beta nerds in high school during 80's-90's. They called them nerds, but today they would be called autistic incels. Does anybody know why Hollywood was making such movies, and if they were based on real high school life, or if it was just propaganda?
