Roads should be freeing up and what remains of the business districts should become open-air museums of a life that once existed but doesn't anymore, used simply for filming period pieces on location and on the cheap.
There are hundreds of benefits to this. Cleaner air, for one. Lower energy demand, and ultimately a lower energy cost. Less road wear, meaning they need to be maintained less often. Apartment complexes should also be freeing up of any White occupants and arguably torn down if left empty so that the people living in them may return to an earlier way of life in a rural village or small town, or failing that, a "suburban" area with 150+ years of history behind it that existed before the city did. Just you, your home, and the greater community built around you. People you care about, who will happily scratch your back if you scratch theirs. Cities are terrible, but the internet is not a replacement for in person interactions. Only WFH can never replace being together in person with colleagues. Humans are social creatures, looking someone in the eye is not the same over Zoom as it is when they sit next to you. It is easier to ask for help in person, especially for small questions, and much easier to facilitate meetings (a necessary evil, commonly over utilised). One makes a bond with their colleagues faster and deeper in person than on a screen / text chat.
If one were to claim that Zoom calls while WFH is just as good as being in person is just another form of Technocracy. You want to exchange one sin (the city being the hub of work and destroying the small town) by accepting another sin (the replacement of in person connections for internet communications). In the office a few days a week and WFH the rest of the time is the best we have in our current situation.
Of course both of our desires can come true, one works in their small town with colleagues in person, no long commute. But that requires the dismantling / split up of the big economic hubs. People move to the cities because there are jobs. Jobs are created in the big cities because there's talent. It's a vicious cycle. We need a Fascist government to help split this up for the best interest of the people. It's a difficult road.
