I know they're not exactly powerhouses now, but to arbitrarily start at the 14th century and omit the Iberian Peninsula is stupid.

The lower half of the western hemisphere speaks European languages because of Spain and Portugal.

The 14th century is to exclude the Islamic "Golden age" which only was a thing because they stole credit for everything Europeans did in the few hundred years prior. Cut out that bullshit and the accomplishments of Europeans goes back way further.
