Genuinely explain this quote this scripture to me then. It unquestionably prophecies Jesus' return to the mount of Olives outside Jerusalem... which happens to be in the MODERN state of Israel... Why on earth wouldn't Christians support it?

Zechariah 14:4 (KJV):

"And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south."

What does the modern state of Israel have to do with the mount of Olives, other than it happens to be located there?
