You are not a machine. The construction and maintenance of your inner world matters to your spirit/ soul. You will be better and stronger with a defined sense of self and an active mind. Like all things, books can be abused, but an elimination of all life's pleasures in search of perfect utilitarianism is communist, and we aren't jews so that's not acceptable
Our ancestors did perfectly fine without books and reading.
