Alzheimer’s was my main point of focus in graduate school. I had a theory for how the disease state progressed, and had some tentative data to back it up (n= 3). Every grant I submitted was shot down because it disagreed with what the main dogma was. I ended up mastering out instead of getting my PhD.
A few years later it turns out that the lab that came up with the general dogma for Alzheimer’s progression faked all their data. Look it up. It infuriated me to no end as my grandfather had Alzheimer’s and I wanted to help solve the problem. If everything went the way it should have, a white Catholic from humble beginnings right here in America would have been the world leader in Alzheimer’s research.
Now consider most other research in pharmaceuticals is just as bad, but it dosen't get as much publicity.

“Research data is expensive, how many shekels do you have to for the data you desire?”
