Hegelian Dialectic, a form of reasoning to advance your position through thesis, anti-thesis, and synthesis. Its technically irrational, but it works because most people are soft and fall for it. You propose something you want done (thesis), create a strawman of your opponent (antithesis) and then propose a "compromise" (synthesis) that ultimately moves you toward your goal, and you repeat the cycle, replacing the anti-thesis with the former synthesis every time and increasingly radicalizing your thesis till you get what you actually wanted. The normalization of faggotry and troonism is a good example of this process.
