Let GM rot and don’t let those responsible in other American auto companies. There’s a reason why the big three are losing to Japan and Korea.
The 90s Buick Century was a great car and the GM V8 was bulletproof (sadly wasn’t in the Century lineup) but the company went downhill in the 2000s and onwards. Wish I still had that Century. You couldn’t feel a single bump in that thing. It was like riding a cloud.
The whole industry has bought into the scam of "laptops on wheels" and chasing Tesla into bankruptcy. Nobody is taking a GM or Ford EV seriously. Look what Dodge did to their Charger. They suspended production of the Charger EV and have been working to retrofit an ICE engine into that body for the last four months. Most of the first Charger EV's are still sitting at dealers. I don't think anyone has spotted one on the road yet. American automakers need to stick to what they do best and what their most loyal customers want: big honkin V8's.
I personally don’t see an issue with EVs. It’s just another method of powering a vehicle with different pros and cons. The issue is that they’re trying to sell EVs as a direct replacement to gas. EVs are better than gas for short trips and constant stopping and long periods of idling but gas is better for long road trips and highway driving.
Desktop on wheels issue applies to both drivetrains and people love it for some reason. I suppose when the ideal EV customer is an old lady that barely drive 15 miles a week, it’s stupid to slap a tablet on the car instead of keeping it simple.
The issue with modern cars is the invasive electronics to make you a good goy. They will not only have systems that track you and those systems will be reliable. But the electronics that operate the vehicle will break and have issues.
One issue with EVs is that charging stations are now smart as well, and they will get (((smarter))), meaning it is a new means of control.
