We saw what Microsoft did with Everquest back in the early 2000s. The gaming industry basically swore an oath never to create a game like that ever again.
Now all games are exactly like Everquest.
There's a reason why whites don't want to work making software anymore, myself included. I thought I was building the future where people could be empowered, but instead I built shackles.
I'm done with it. I'm looking for the off switch to reset us back a few hundred years.
We tried software to revolutionize our lives. For a while we thought it was going to be the Next Big Thing (TM). It turns out it was a tool. Now anyone can program. Just watch a 10 minute video and you're making your own video game.
I'm running my farm on a spreadsheet. I created a pivot table to calculate how many lambs were born each week. It took me about 5 minutes. I read like 2 lines from a blog post from someone back in 2012 or whatever and I'm done.
This is the extent of programming knowledge that is actually useful and there's no reason why you have to hire someone to get it. Heck, I was showing managers how to put together queries against our data warehouse using visual inputs. It's ridiculous. We've written all the software that is needed. There is nothing left to do except actually do stuff that people actually need done, like raising goats. Software is not going to make me raise more or better goats. Heck, suppose I wanted to use "AI" to figure out which billy to keep as a breeder. I can just plug it in a spreadsheet and push a button and it will tell me which one is best.
