Elon,

The reason why Americans aren't chomping at the bit to work for you is because they know there is no point to it. We watched our engineering dads get burned out and then cast aside once they hit their mid-40s. And now that we are in our mid-40s, we don't want a corporate job because we don't want to end up like our dads.

It was fun to believe that I could become like Bill Gates for a few short years in my 20s. Now that I know how the world works, there is no way I am ever going to work for anyone else. And I'm certainly never going to give you any of my intellectual rights.

If you want to hire Indians, go to India. Keep them out of the US.

Sincerely,

An Anglo-Saxon Engineer

"we watched our dads get burned out" can be applied to pretty much every profession in corporate globohomo america. i work with boomers and I'm always hearing of guys they know who died 6 months after they retired from giving their life to a company. they ground it out for 40 years, paid off their mortgage and never even got to enjoy the last few they had left.
