It's not microplastics, or at least they're not anywhere near the main problem. You're overthinking it.

What causes sex-differentiation problems? Sex hormones. What product do humans make that's loaded with sex hormones? Birth control. What does the human body do when fed extra sex hormones? The kidneys filter it out of the blood and it gets excreted in the urine. Do sewage treatment plants filter sex hormones out of the water before returning it to the environment? Nope, no easy way to do that.

The problem is birth control. It's been getting into the environment and slowly feminizing not only animals, but humans too, for decades. And it's only getting worse.

You're right, this specific problem is caused by birth control pills. Once again, more noticeable downstream. These also causes more miscarriages or sterilization while making women crazy. Not even the best treatment plants are capable for removing these chemicals.
