If you go back to the original Greek versions of the Scriptures (basically the first complete biblical record), all of the Greek words that Jesus used in his exhortations to "love your neighbor", "turn the other cheek", etc., were exclusively Greek words for *your own people*; i.e. members of your own race or at the furthest, members of your own faith.
