Aside from saving tax money, it wouldn't be a punishment appropriate to the crime. It's an interesting case still, showing how easy it would be to take down a government. Or to create a distraction while you do a mass shooting in a synagogue. He even demonstrated that in theory it would have been possible to get away with it too.

A group of 15 armed men could take out every last jew in Norway in just a few hours and then disappear.
