Esports cafe isn't prevalent at all (dude is mixing it up with Korea), Shinto is totally still around, people use onsen regularly and Karate is a popular sport even if not as much as Judo.

He kinda knows Japan but it looks like he just read random stories without confirming them.

Shinto is still around but it seems to be in a similar state to Christianity and for more or less the same reason, that being the fake and gay modernity hurts religion, so it's more of a cultural thing like the majority of Christians, that's what he means by "revive" Shinto.
