Shinto didn't fail to protect the Japanese, It's in the same spot as Christianity, with the post war world weakening any sort of faith sadly, though I must point out my own beliefs are "from" the Volkish movement, which had this thought even before WW1.

It did, because Paganism was never intended to counteract the judeo-satanists, whereas Catholicism was created with that explicit purpose, and as such this is the reason the jews attack it above other religions.
