He was a decent leader snd anti-israel. I think he was too lenient which is the weakness they exploited to gain power.

Which is the very weakness they exploit every single time. Same with Hitler.

Lesson: Show ZERO mercy for jews. Zero. If you let the women and children alive, it's not you who'll pay the price, it's your kinsmen. They will lie and deceive to the maximum possible degree, so all your good deeds will go down in history as the reverse of good - you will be labeled an evil racist dictator.
