Hitler called his movement national *socialism* and used red on the flag ***solely*** to trick the people who were going to communist rallies into coming to him instead. He said this outright. Actual communists were fucking furious at him for this. They kept losing attendance to his rallies from people who found his solutions better.
“The left” today similarly hates national socialism because it’s diametrically opposed to communism.
“The right” is also communists, but they couch their communism in support for the anarchy that precedes its rise to power. Libertarianism demands infinite “freedom” and consequently the collapse of all (existing) government power and authority to achieve it. They hate national socialism because it’s what the Constitution and Founding Fathers explicitly said the government should be (that is to say: *present* and ruling with an iron fist explicitly and exclusively what it is legally mandated to rule).
