I guess they realized serving your household is much more relaxing and fun than serving a corporation. Most men work 10+ hour days, so they have the whole day to themselves to do a little cleaning, cooking, and laundry. The rest of the time they can do whatever they want and never have to worry about paying mortgage, phone bills, etc. even I see the appeal.
Obviously, learning to be tough makes motherhood easier as well.
And while the Soviet-Union pushed womens rights earlier (even thought Stalin rolled that back somewhat) it was never like it was in the western bloc.
Because Current Year, many people have also allowed themselves to become piss weak and limp wristed.
Including hospitals. Many needless deaths because doctors just aren't bothering putting anywhere as much effort as they should.
They can do this, but only so that they can teach their kids. Otherwise, they're just mooching.
Nothing trad about this Current Year slipping. What would be trad is whipping them into shape.
There are training methods to turn civilians into soldiers and that is kinda what is needed to deal with this.
