I started do math when I was 3, and even caused embarrassment to some illiterate elderly woman because I wanted to say house numbers with her, or do some math, and she said "let's do something else." I don't think the container thing would have confused me either. I think I would have been thrilled to do these types of "puzzles."
Even if I were wrong about it, I would have understood and learned the concept of liquids in containers. But I was restricted to only do math and paint power lines.
