Even then, a lot of different ethnic groups of Europe were once part of the same. For example, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland are all seen as different groups. However, if you speak German you’ll notice some overlap in the languages, and turns out those countries are made up of much earlier genetic german groups that migrated north to those lands. A lot of English language also ties in with German.

Funny enough in German, Englisch is pronounced like ang-lish or in my mind “Anglo-Saxon English”
