I always called slop "lowest common-denominator conservatism" because all it takes to make people clap like seals is some suit saying "men should not be able to compete in women's sports" [*thunderous applause*]
It's unfortunately far more common than one would hope. I think it arose since the internet became normie friendly, especially via concentration of users in normie friendly social media sites. Instead of the internet use dispersed to numerous niche communities, it's intentionally dumbed down and caters to lowest common denominators, resulting in a never ending downward spiral. It became widespread and apparent with Facebook, where Facebook screenshots and "memes" like "we should do x, hit like if you agree" are now all over the internet.
It's the same purpose and effects we see elsewhere in White society. Merit and excellence is intentionally abandoned for wide acceptance and ease of use for the general public. At least that's the surface explanation. In reality, the people doing this are intentionally dumbing things down, as a control mechanism. No stable, healthy, or rational society ever caters to their dumbest members. We're supposed to raise, teach, extol, and cater to the best of us. Merit is a foundational requirement for all successful groups.
